Ed and I have said that many times in our fifteen years together. Usually, we talk ourselves out of it. Not this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Well, maybe we just adjusted our idea of what we wanted our bookstore to be.  What we would really like to do is have a full brick-and-mortar used bookstore and coffee shop, complete with a place for writer’s workshops, open mic nights, readings by local authors, and classes on collecting books, repairing books, and sometimes (gasp!) repurposing books. Repurposing is way better than throwing away, unless the book met a calamity such as being drowned in dog pee (ask me how I know). However, if said dog chews on it a little, maybe we can do something creative with it. <\/p>\n\n

Back in June, our local community had a city-wide garage sale.  I decided to set out a tent canopy and a few hundred books.  Because we’re off the beaten path somewhat, we didn’t get as many visitors as sales in town, but we had quite a few, and many of them were very excited about the prospect of a bookstore, even if it was in a tent. That led us to think that, at least for the summer, we could do a few book sale weekends. Well, that didn’t work out all that great either. We had three more tent sales, (the last one in August, I think) with one or two shoppers and one sale. So maybe people weren’t as excited as we thought. Maybe our timing was off.<\/p>\n\n

We started working on this website last fall as a companion to a brick-and-mortar store, but quickly realized we were going to have to start with online sales.  I’ve started adding products to our online store, but it’s a slow process and we’re still working out the pay\/banking issues, so it may be a while before that’s up and running.  <\/p>\n\n
